FOGCZ’s objective is to help preserve the Gibbston Character Zone. Now it also includes protection of the Kawarau Gibbston Dark Sky Park.
Therefore, FOGCZ’s immediate priority is to oppose Gibbston Valley Station’s “Gibbston Village” Fast Track application, which threatens the local environment and community with its proposal for 900 homes, including sections as small as 180 m2 for duplexes.

Kawarau Gibbston Dark Sky Park
The Gibbston Village Fast Track application threatens our Dark Sky Park.
Even with world-class lighting controls, the sheer scale of the Gibbston Valley Station Fast Track development will result in a substantial fraction of the Kawarau Gibbston failing the minimum requirements for a Dark Sky Park.
The proposed development will change the landscape of Gibbston forever.

"This was snuck in...
No one knew about it; even the council didn't know about it..

“Gibbston produces world class wines and I’m worried high-density development may jeopardise that.”
