Community Session

The number of FOGCZ supporters has grown to 105.

Last evening’s community session was well attended by 44 supporters.

Summary of community session

The Fast Track Approval Bill with 149 applications is very likely to be passed soon, by end November 2024. The Gibbston Valley Station application is one of the 149.

FOGCZ will not have the right to be heard by the Expert Panel of 3 persons when it is formed to review and approve the GVS application.

With 149 applications to consider, it is uncertain when the Panel for the GVS application, will be formed. It can be as early as December 2024.

We need to continue to express our concerns louder and have a wider audience reach through print and social media, the district council, iwi, politicians, our mayor and anyone else who can help us reach out and have our concerns heard by the Expert Panel. This Panel makes the final decision. There is an unlikely chance of an appeal after that.

We need to prepare our case as quickly as we can. Input requested by the Panel from an approved list (which includes QLDC and adjacent landowners) has to reach them in 20 days.

Therefore, we need to know as much details of the GVS application as fast as possible.

Last evening’s community session has allowed us to understand what we are faced with and the actions to take. Read the transcript of the session.
