GVS Fast-track application is in the “substantive” stage

To have an idea on how QLDC is involved on Fast-track, the summary is :

  1. The Fast-track Approval Act (FTAA) requires that the applicants consult with the Council during both the substantive and referral application process. Council acts as an "affected party", with no decision-making role in the approval processes. Applicants must consult with the Council during both the referral and substantive stages and

  2. Requests to speak at public forum on the Fast-track Approvals Act will be directed to the public forum section of Planning & Strategy Committee meetings. Speakers may only speak on the FTAA process and may not speak in reference to any specific applications (live or proposed).

The details are in QLDC’s website https://www.qldc.govt.nz/your-council/fast-track-approvals-act/

The Gibbston Valley station (GVS) Fast-track application has passed the “referral” phase and is in the “substantive” stage. GVS need to work on their substantive application, in consultation with QLDC, before their application can put forward to the Expert Panel for review and a decision.

If you are aware and has updates on this, please let FOGCZ know.

You can speak at the public forum of QLDC’s full council meeting but not on Fast-track matters.

You can speak on Gibbston matters which you feel QLDC should know of.

One Gibbston resident did that at the 19 March 2025 meeting. Another resident spoke today.

The next full council meeting is on 29 May 2025.

FOGCZ wishes everyone a Happy Easter with family and friends.
