NO to The Gibbston Valley Station Fast Track Application

That’s the message we need to let everyone know and the main reasons why; Permanent damage to the Gibbston Character Zone and irreplaceable loss of the Kawarau Gibbston Dark Sky.

QLDC has maintained its unreasonable stance. We will not be allowed to speak at its public forum on this Fast Track application by Gibbston Valley Station (GVS) .

Subsequent correspondence with individuals at QLDC gave us a strong indication that if GVS amends its application for the final review by the Expert Panel, we will not know the details. We will not know when the Expert Panel will be formed and who they are. FOGCZ is working on this and does not have a solution yet.

Meantime, please continue to support FOGCZ.

Road signs

Two road signs are up. We need more, and if you need some help on this, please let us know.

Public forum

You can speak at the Public Forum at the QLDC Full Council meeting on 20 March 25 at 1pm, 10 Gorge Rd. You can’t speak on the Fast Track application. But you can, for example, talk about the need to preserve the Gibbston Character Zone or the economic benefits of having the Dark Sky Park, all in the allocated 3 minutes. Online registration: https://www.qldc.govt.nz/do-it-online/registrations/register-to-speak-at-public-forum

Community cricket match

We are trying to have our MP, Mr Joseph Mooney, to attend a community cricket match held Sunday 16 March 2025, at THE CHURCH, 2pm. A cricket match and other games if you are allergic to the cricket ball. It’s a perfect time to meet up on “NO to the GVS Fast Track Application”. Come and share your views and suggestions.
